Best AI Apps for Personal Finance in India (2026)
How we judged these apps (and our bias, disclosed)
One honest thing first: TARA AI on this list is built by us — GoCredit. We've put it where we genuinely believe it belongs and told you exactly what it does and doesn't do, but you should know the relationship before reading.
For every app we asked three questions. Does the AI actually DO something, or is it a chatbot skin over a regular app? Does it work for typical Indian money situations — UPI-heavy spending, EMIs, CIBIL anxiety? And can you start free?
No app pays to be on this list, and no ranking here is sponsored.
Estimate max loan amount for my salary
GoCredit's AI Loan Agent computes your true eligibility across 100+ lenders instantly.
Best AI for loans: TARA AI (by GoCredit — that's us)
TARA AI is India's first agentic AI loan agent — it doesn't just show you a list of lenders, it scans 100+ RBI-registered banks and NBFCs against your actual profile (salary, CIBIL band, existing EMIs), predicts which ones will approve you, and applies on your behalf. The eligibility scan uses a soft inquiry, so your CIBIL score is untouched until you choose to formally apply.
What it's genuinely good at: replacing 10+ manual loan applications with one conversation, in Hindi or English. What it doesn't do: full budgeting or investing — it's a credit specialist, not a money super-app.
Free for borrowers inside the GoCredit app on Android. GoCredit earns from lenders on successful disbursal, not from you.
Best AI inside a wealth app: INDmoney and ET Money
Both apps use AI/ML under the hood for portfolio tracking and recommendations rather than as a chat interface.
INDmoney is known for pulling your entire financial life — stocks, mutual funds, FDs, EPF, credit cards — into one tracked dashboard, with automated nudges on fees and returns. ET Money's 'Genius' layer scores funds and builds risk-matched portfolios from your answers.
Pick these when your problem is 'where is my money and is it growing', not 'I need credit'.

Best AI for expense tracking: SMS-reading trackers (axio and similar)
India's most practical expense-AI trick is reading your bank SMS. Apps like axio (formerly Walnut) parse debit alerts automatically, so your spending log builds itself — no manual entry, which is where most budgeting attempts die.
The trade-off to understand: SMS-permission apps see a lot of your financial life. Check what an app uploads versus processes on-device, and prefer apps that publish a clear privacy policy. RBI-regulated entities have tighter obligations here than random utilities from the Play Store.
Best conversational money AI: bank and fintech chat assistants
Most large Indian banks now ship an in-app assistant (HDFC's Eva was among the earliest) that can answer balance, card and branch questions. Fintech apps like Fi have pushed further with natural-language search over your own transactions — 'how much did I spend on Swiggy in July' actually works.
These are genuinely useful for lookups. Their limit: they answer questions about your money, they rarely take actions for you. That action gap is exactly what the agentic generation — AI that applies, files, disputes, negotiates — is starting to close.

Best free AI for credit scores: Credit Boost AI (also ours) and the simulator pattern
Generic advice ('pay on time!') is worthless when your score is stuck. Two free tools we built attack this: Credit Boost AI reads your actual credit profile and prescribes the 3-5 highest-impact actions with expected point gains, and the CIBIL Score Simulator lets you test an action — closing a card, missing an EMI, a new loan — BEFORE you do it.
Both are free on gocredit.money, no app install needed. Same disclosure as above: our tools.
What about ChatGPT, Gemini and Claude for money advice?
General AI assistants are excellent at explaining concepts — what FOIR means, how reducing-balance interest works, whether NPS beats PPF for your bracket. Millions of Indians already use them exactly this way.
Two cautions. First, they can't see your data — advice is only as good as what you type in. Second, they sometimes state India-specific numbers (tax slabs, scheme rules, rates) with confidence and get them wrong — verify anything with money riding on it against an official source.
Best use: understanding. For doing — applying, tracking, filing — you need a purpose-built app from the categories above.
Check my personalized rate across 100+ lenders
Soft check only — zero CIBIL impact. Real rates from RBI-registered lenders in 60 seconds.
The honest bottom line
There is no single 'best AI app for personal finance' — there are best apps per job. Wealth tracking: INDmoney/ET Money class. Painless expense logs: an SMS-parsing tracker. Explanations: ChatGPT/Gemini/Claude with verification. Loans and credit scores: that's the job TARA AI and Credit Boost AI were built for, and where we'll confidently say ours lead in India.
Start with the job that's actually hurting you this month — for most Indians carrying EMIs, that's credit, not budgeting.
